Main purpose
Spices: permitted in GB 2760-96, widely used to prepare food essence with dairy, cream, peach, citrus, coconut and other flavors

Synthetic route
There are two main synthesis methods mentioned in public information:
Acid catalyzed cyclization method
Heating 9-decenoic acid or ω - undecylenic acid with 80% sulfuric acid for a long time at 90 ℃ results in molecular lactonization (lactonization) to produce γ - decanoic acid
Biological fermentation method (greener)
Fermentation production using Y-1 γ - decanolactone yeast (screened by Tianjin Institute of Light Industry) in a medium containing castor oil
The concentration of γ - decanolactone in the fermentation broth can reach 400 mg/L
