It has a wide range of uses, mainly including:
As a dye intermediate, it is used in the production of trimeric acid, J-acid, 2,3-acid, and azo dyes.
Used for the production of rubber anti-aging agents (such as anti-aging agents Ding and DNP), organic pigments, fungicides, preservatives, and mineral processing agents.
Used as a calibration reagent in analytical chemistry (such as for the determination of bromine, chlorine, carbon monoxide, etc.), fluorescent indicator, or ethylene absorbent.
As a preservative applied to citrus preservation (maximum usage of 0.1g/kg, residual amount not exceeding 70mg/kg).
Other applications include feed preservatives, fluorescent indicators, and serving as fluorescent substrates for the determination of phenolsulfotransferase.
