Production method 1: Dimethyl sulfate alkylation method generally involves the reaction of meta cresol and methyl chloride in the presence of caustic alkali. Due to the fact that chloromethane is a gas, the reaction is difficult to operate. This method uses dimethyl sulfate as the alkylating reagent, and under alkaline conditions, utilizes a phase transfer catalyst to convert m-cresol into ether. 2. The methanol alkylation method uses aluminum silicate catalyst, with Al2O3 content ranging from 20% to 80%; The reaction temperature should be 5-10 ℃ higher than the boiling point of meta cresol; The ratio of ingredients is meta cresol: methanol=1: (0.5~0.7) (molar ratio).
