Synthetic Routes
Industrially, the following two efficient synthetic routes are mainly used:
**Nucleophilic Substitution Method (Mainstream Process)**
Reagents: 4-Methylthiazole + 2-Bromopropane
Catalyst: Potassium carbonate (K?CO?)
Reaction Conditions: 80–90°C, in a polar aprotic solvent (such as acetonitrile or DMF) for 4–6 hours
Product Purity: Up to 98% or higher; simple post-processing; suitable for large-scale production.
**Condensation Cyclolation Method (Laboratory Alternative)**
Reagents: α-Keto Acid + Aminothiourea
Steps: First construct the thiazole ring, then introduce the isopropyl group via alkylation.
Advantages: Suitable for structural derivatization studies, but the steps are more complex and the yield is lower.
