Colorless transparent oily liquid, a little aroma, boiling point 283.7°C; melting point 5.5°C;
Refractive index 1.5168(20°C), can be mixed with alcohol and aether, does not be dissolved
in water or petroleum ether.
As a plasticizer with great solvency, the product could be mixed with cellulose resin, rubber, vinly resin, and be of good filmmaking property, adherence and water resistance. Mixed with diethyl phthalate, it is used for cellulose acetate film, varnish, transparent paper and moulding powder.
Some are used for nitrocellulose. It also can be used as plasticizer for acrylic fibre glue, insect repellent (crude oil), polyvinyl fluoride, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and DDT.
