1.Appearance
Colorless transparent liquefied gas.It has slight smell of Diethyl ether.It's anesthetic. Its specific gravity is 0.92（20/4℃) and fusing point is -97.6℃.Its boiling point is -23.76℃.It's inflammable and will form explosive compound when mixed with air.It's slightly soluble in water and decomposes methanol and hydrochloric acid.
Usage
Chloromethane is mainly used in the production of Methyl chloro silane,Methyl cellulose and the carrier of polymerization catalyst of the Butyl rubber. It's also used as solvent,extracting agent,impelling agent and cryogen.

Stored in steel cylinders withstanding voltage ( they can withstand the pressure of 17.6kg/cm2).The steel cylinders are painted red and with the white words noted with"Chloromethane" and " Inflammable compressed gas".
